Hey AI Builders, apologies for the radio silence on the Newsletter. I put my focus on the Build With AI Course and Youtube Channel which just hit 10,000 Subs. Here is a post I shared detailing my journey and some tips for anyone trying to do the same. Thanks for all your support. I'll share as much as I can while I build.

Cursor AI Dev Rules - Big Improvement

Cursor has released a new way of managing AI development rules. Previously, we used a “.cursorrules” file, but now we can use modular rules instead. This exciting development means we can send smaller, targeted snippets to the language model rather than one large, context-heavy file. You can choose which rules to apply, and the AI will determine when they’re relevant!

What makes this particularly useful is the ability to share specific rules across projects. You can share guidelines with others for setting up new features, like adding ORMs or styles, or simply define your preferred coding practices and conventions. I’m excited about this development because of its future potential for speeding up projects and have created a detailed YouTube video about it. If you want to check it out here.​

DeepSeek and o3mini - Time to Switch?

Some major new models have emerged recently, with DeepSeek surprising us with their r1 and v3 models. I’ve tested all of them within Cursor, and while they perform well, I still prefer Claude 3.5 Sonnet for its speed, consistency, reliability, and compatibility with the composer feature. However, I’ll keep monitoring DeepSeek’s progress. It has significantly reduced costs for AI development, and it's open-source nature is driving community innovation.

03Mini, I’ve been using it for initial software architecture and design planning, while still relying on Claude for actual code development. While we aren’t seeing dramatic improvements in reasoning capabilities, the improvements in cost and speed are welcome developments.
